July 4th Grilled Chicken and Sassy Sauce
That’s right, the 4th of July is right around the corner. And what a better way to celebrate your independence, than with some sassy sauce grilled chicken? That’s right, this is America and you have the right to get sassy with your grilled chicken!
July 4th Grilled Chicken and Sassy Sauce Ingredients:
3 pounds chicken legs
1 medium onion, chopped
½ cup chopped bell pepper
? teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon oregano
½ cup vinegar
1 tablespoon liquid smoke
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 cups ketchup
½ cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons butter
July 4th Grilled Chicken and Sassy Sauce Instructions:
In a sauce pan over low heat, melt the butter.
Add bell pepper and onion. Cook for 5 minutes.
Now, to the vegetables, add oregano, cinnamon, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, liquid smoke, ketchup, vinegar, brown sugar, and 1 cup of water.
Let simmer over low heat for 30 minutes.
Heat grill to a medium heat.
Place the chicken on the grill and cook 10 to 15 minutes.
Turn chicken and brush with sauce cook 5 more minutes.
Continue to cook, turn, and brush with sauce until tender and done.
