Low Calorie BBQ Chicken Recipe

This recipe is a healthy alternative to any bbq sauce with a lot of sugar. And the skinless, boneless chicken breast will reduce the fat content of this great tasting low calorie meal.

Prepare the bbq sauce ahead of time and refrigerate to make cooking the bbq chicken fast and easy.

Low Calorie BBQ Chicken Recipe Ingredients:

4 skinless, boneless chicken breast halves

1 tablespoon vegetable oil

1 diced tomato

1 small onion, chopped

? teaspoon garlic powder

¾ teaspoon chili powder

¼ teaspoon black pepper

2 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

1 cup chicken broth

1 tablespoon cornstarch dissolved in 1 tablespoon of water

Low Calorie BBQ Chicken Recipe Instructions:

Heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook about 3 minutes or until tender.

Add to that, garlic powder, diced tomato, and the chili powder. Let that cook for about 2 minutes, stirring often.

Next, stir in the black pepper, Worcestershire sauce, and chicken broth.

Bring the bbq sauce to a boil and then reduce the heat. Let it simmer for 10 minutes.

Stir in the cornstarch and water mixture. Constantly stirring, let cook until the bbq sauce is thickened. Approximately 1 minute.

Preheat the broiler.

Place the boneless chicken breast on a broiling rack and broil about 6 inches from the heat for 20 minutes. Make sure you turn the boneless chicken breast several times while broiling.

Brush the breast with sauce and broil for 5 to 10 more minutes, turning and basting with the bbq sauce several times.

Remove from the broiler and brush the boneless chicken breast one more time with the bbq sauce. Serve the low calorie bbq chicken recipe with your favorite low-cal veggies and serve. This recipe also lends itself well to grilling. Just use the grill instead of the broiler!
