Madeira Chicken in Apple Sauce
Madeira wine has a special flavor that will make this Madeira chicken taste so good. This is a variation of mandarin chicken with the added flavor of Madeira wine and also apple sauce.
Madeira Chicken in Apple Sauce Ingredients:
6 boneless chicken breast
3 tbsp. butter
1/8 tsp. garlic powder
1 cup orange juice
ΒΌ cup Madeira wine
1 medium onion, chopped fine
1 apple, peeled, cored, and chopped
1 can of mandarin oranges (11 ounces) drained
1 tsp. cornstarch dissolved into 1 tbsp. of water
Madeira Chicken in Apple Sauce Instructions:
In a large skillet, melt butter over a medium heat. Place the chicken breast in the skillet and cook until lightly browned. Remove and set to the side.
Add apple, garlic, and onion to the skillet and cook until the onion is tender. Put the chicken back in the pan with the apple and onion. Add the orange juice and Madeira wine. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes or until chicken is done.
Remove the chicken from the skillet. Stir in the dissolved cornstarch to the apple and Madeira wine in the skillet and bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Reduce heat and simmer, while stirring, until thickened and smooth. Pour onto the chicken and place mandarin oranges on top of the Madeira apple sauce.
