Southern Style Green Beans With Country Ham

Green beans make a great addition to anyone’s diet. Their tasty, nutritious and can be added to almost any dish to make it better. Today we are going to share one of our favorite recipes with you: Southern Style Green Beans with Country Ham. This meal is a good choice because it is easy to prepare and makes a complete meal.   • canned green beans (cut style) 64-ounces
  • 1 1/2 cups of water
  • 4 ounces of country ham chips (about 1/2 of an 8-ounce bag)
  • 1 cup of onions (sliced)

Butter, salt and pepper to taste


How To Prepare the Recipe

First, take the country ham chips and boil them in the 1 1/2 cups of water for about 30 minutes. Lower the flame on the pot, then take your cut green beans and add them to the water with the ham chips. Bring the water to a boil again for another 30 minutes.

Once 30 minutes has passed add about a teaspoon of butter to the pot, then add the sliced onions. If you want your onions to have a crunch to them don’t leave them in for more than the recommended 15 minutes. Once you add the onions you can now flavor with salt and pepper, adding as much as is to your liking.

Cover the pot again and let simmer for 15 minutes, the pour the mixture into a casserole-style dish. Take the onions and put them on the top of the dish.
