It’s easy to make this excellent full meal for your family tonight:

Ingredients:

FISH

2 tbsp Olive oil

1 tsp Fresh, kosher salt

1 tsp cracked black pepper

1 Fresh Salmon Fillet

RICE

2 cups Rice (any kind you prefer- we chose white rice)

4 cups water

2-3 tsp butter

Salt and Pepper to taste

STEAMED VEGGIES

Mixed Veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, carrots)

2 tbsp Unsalted butter

Directions:

1.Lightly pour olive oil in pan; sprinkle salmon fillet with salt and pepper. Make sure your pan is heated thoroughly and the oil is hot, but not TOO hot. When you add your fish, take particular care to place it in a part of your pan that isn’t going to scorch easily. Salmon fillets cook fast and require constant attention to prepare correctly.

2.Before beginning to cook your salmon, boil water for rice in a medium sided pan, adding butter and a small amount of salt. When water begins to boil, add rice, put a lid on the top of the pan, and leave it alone. You’re going to want to let it simmer on low heat for 15-17 minutes before you remove the lid; so take a break and come back after five minutes or so to start the fish- or start chopping up your steamed veggies.

  1. Gently cook Salmon Patty on one side. When it gains a slightly white texture, it is seared enough to serve. Simply flip, and cook the other side to match. It takes a little bit of practice to cook the salmon perfectly so don’t get discouraged.

  1. Take a large bowl, and put your chopped mixed veggies in it; with butter and whatever seasonings you might want. Add a few drops of water, cover and put in the microwave for a minute and a half. After that, you’re going to take it out, stir it up, add a few more drops of water, and microwave it again for the same amount of time.

5. Check your rice, if and ONLY if you left it alone to gently simmer. Take a fork and gently fluff your rice.

That’s it, and then it’s time to serve!

Serving the dinner is half the battle. It’s all about presentation, and how you put everything on the plate. Be sure to carefully sit the fillet down, don’t let it slop juice on the plate, and carefully put a portioned amount of rice on the plate, feel free to garnish the rice with sage or lemon, sometimes a wedge of lemon can make a fish and rice dish. Then, carefully add your mixed veggies. Be careful to leave the butter sauce behind, we’ll use it as a sauce to make the rice more flavorful. One of the great things about steamed veggies is you don’t have to worry about the presentation as much, as long as they’re served hot; they look great and don’t make a mess when prepared correctly. Don’t be afraid to serve this dish with a great white wine in the candlelight- its great romantic dinner that’s easy to make and will make any man look like a true gentleman with class and taste.
